Description

Banko Taratu is well-known coffee-producing town in the Gedeo Zone, which is located in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. The washing station processes coffee cherries from about 300 family-owned farms that grow coffee in single-hectare gardens at elevations of around 1900 to 2300 meters above sea level.

This coffee is first depulped at the washing station before being transferred to ferment for about 48 hours, which is slightly longer than the typical fermentation time for traditional washed coffees. After fermentation, the coffee is washed and then carefully dried in the shade to gently reduce its moisture content, before being moved into the sun to bring it down to 11%.

In the cup, it’s incredibly sparkling, clean, and sweet. The acidity is bright and reminiscent of sweet lemons, complemented by beautiful floral notes and a smooth black tea finish. This is our ideal Ethiopian coffee, one that could easily be enjoyed every day.
